How to Plan Christmas Decor at Home For First Time

Welcome December! Christmas is just around the corner. But don’t worry, you still have time to plan your christmas decor before it happens. Let’s plan together!

I feel like I want to create something more cozy and magical for this year. Because, usually I just do simple decorating at home for Christmas.

I love decorating, but sometimes it can make me feel stressed. Beside that, creating Christmas decorations by myself is not easy, because this is my first time.

So, for this year, I have to follow some tips and tricks to create it. So, I can enjoy my Christmas and make it memorable.

Christmas Decoration Ideas at Home

Did you think the same as me, when Christmas comes, our home has to look sprinkled with decoration and magic festive in every corner.

But, in reality, decorating is difficult, especially for those who are doing this for the first time. You might not know how to start, just like me.

If you are facing the same problems, don’t worry. I found a creative blog Inspiredbycharm that talks about how to plan Christmas decorations to make a home magical, sprinkle, and look festive. Here I summarized it for you:

Consider Color Palette

First thing first, plan the color palette for your Christmas. This is a basic thing to do, just like when you plan to design a new room.

Usually, there are three dominant colors related to Christmas parties. There are green, red, and gold. So, we have to implement the color we want.

For example, I have green velvet chairs in my living room. So, I decided to choose green as my color palette and also my green Christmas tree.

Plan Decor Themes

If you really want to create a festive magical Christmas at home for the first time, take a theme for it. It is not necessary, but it can help you to choose the right decoration.

For example, I love everything in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’s movie. So, I see every detail of the ornament I make for my Christmas decor at home.

This theme helps to elevate my room and look so inviting. You also can try other themes, but make sure it is related to Christmas events.

Wrapping Paper

The next step is about choosing wrapping paper that is suitable with your Christmas theme. This paper is used to wrap gift for everyone that you invite.

This paper is also part of the decoration, when you put it all in your living room. That is why, you have to make sure, the color and motifs it really shows about the magical and festive of Christmas.

Plan Inventory for Christmas Decor

What can make me feel overwhelmed after Christmas is all the stuff spreading in my room. Can you imagine, I bought Christmas ornaments and decorations like every year.

So, the solution is to use storage as inventory. If you face the same problems, take some storage to pack up things that you don’t need.

If you feel the Inventory is stuffy and full, you can donate them for others who need it. Beside that, for tiny ornaments, you can put it in totes, which can use a decoration too.

Plan Tree Decorating

This plan is very important, because this is the heart of a Christmas party at home or places. I want to feel the experience of making my own Christmas tree.

So, I plan to trim the tree, starting with setting up the tree and adding some lights or pre-lit. Then, I need ribbons in the red color, similar to my living room themes.

Now, my Christmas tree is almost ready. I will add some smaller ornaments and add the tree topper. Just in case the ornament does not fall, use ornament hooks which look small and disappear.

Everything Wrap Up, Merry Christmas

Planning helps you to create what you want, reduces your stress, and helps you to use the resource and time better. For Christmas, this is the first thing to do before others.

By planning the Christmas decoration, it will also help you to focus on your holiday season and how to make it warm and memorable with your family, friends, and relatives together.
