But it is common to have this area on the side of the house.  People used this area for many activities. Example for recreational purposes, firepits, and playing games.

Either a Patio or a Porch,  need decorating much like an interior room.  But first things first, make sure the purpose of the building is.

If you need a patio for entertainment, maybe you need to put lighting, some chairs, a firepit, and a projector screen.

If you just want to decorate your porch simply, just put the furniture sets and some greenery for enjoyment.

  • Maintenance

  • Budget, if you are on budget better you choose to build a patio. The construction is more simple and affordable. The porch will require many things.
  • Your lifestyle, are you enjoying reading a book or hosting outdoor dinners? The first is suitable for a porch and the second is for the patio.
  • Property layout, the house that you bought may have backyard space, so you can prepare it for the patio.
  • Climate, if you stay in the city that has heavy rainfall, you need to cover your porch or your patio.
  • Home Value, this is for investment and unique selling point of your home. So make sure your porch is attractive, then your patio.

You Can Have Both!

Yes, if you are confused about choosing one of them and your finances cover all the cost, you can have a patio and a porch.

The homeowner will enjoy both and can do some activities there. A porch can offer you a space to rest, to talk with guests and friends, and to curb appeal.

While your patio, if it is located in the backyard, you have some privacy to relax with your families or friends. You also can enjoy the entertainment that you installed.
